Shale as a Source of Oil & Gas

EagleRidge Energy is an oil and gas company that operates 2,300 wells on over 330,000 gross acres in the Barnett Shale in Texas. A low-cost operator, EagleRidge Energy's operations have enabled the production of natural gas and oil from shale.

The shale gas production is why the United States enjoys an abundant natural gas supply. This natural gas production is expected to continue for long as the Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates the proved and unproved shale gas resources at combined 542 trillion cubic feet. This fills the gap created by the retirement of coal power plants and helps the United States achieve carbon dioxide reduction.

An increase in the production of domestic energy resources means there is a reduced need for imports, enhances energy security, and provides affordable energy. It also means more jobs creation to cater to the labor required in drilling wells and pipeline construction. The government also benefits from corporate income tax, sales, royalties on federal lands, etc.
